NDSolve crash

Hi!
I have one question: can anybody tell me why the Runge Kutta implemented
into mathematica in NDSolve always crashes as soon as I add a function
looking like
y'[t]==1+Tanh[4-3*x'[t]] ?
I always ghet the error message "inconsistent or redundant
transcendental equation".
The same set of equations I want to use was working in Matlab without
problems.
Please tell me if you have any idea. Thanks  Margit
