We had this problem last year, see my notes http://wwwslap.cern.ch/~jowett/ComputingNotes/XterminalOnPC.html If you can't follow the link to "documentation from IT", I've copied the relevant text below. John Jowett ---------------BEGIN COPIED TEXT---------------------------- 6.3 Font problems when using Exceed X emulator on PC When using Mathematica on a UNIX system with an Exceed X emulator on PC, it may happen that the Mathematica fonts do not get properly displayed. This concerns two problems with the way Exceed is installed on NICE. Unfortunately, the mistakes are inside a binary file with unknown layout (one copy per user) and therefore cannot be auto-fixed by NICE distribution. Follow the following instructions to get them fixed. Problem 1) Font substitution should by default not be enabled In the Exceed Control Panel, Configuration, Double-click "Font icon" Select "Font Database" Deselect "Automatic Font Substitution" Problem 2) Exceed should terminate upon session logout In the Exceed Control Panel, Configuration, Double-click "Window mode" Select "Exit on server reset"
