Hi, I'm running Mathematica-4.0.1 on SuSE-7.2 Linux . I think it was the first time I used the "Export" procedure in Mathematica since I updated to Suse 7.2 with my new system (Dual P3-1GHZ, 1GB Ram). On my old computer and all earlier SuSEs "Export" worked perfectly... So this may be a SuSE or system problem, but i am unsure : Whenever I try to export any picture Export["/home/roland/test.jpeg", bild] the error box pops up and shows : sh: /Secure/Mathematica-4.0.1/SystemFiles/Converters/Binaries/Linux/JPEG.exe: No such file or directory sh: /Secure/Mathematica-4.0.1/SystemFiles/Converters/Binaries/Linux/JPEG.exe: No such file or directory and in the Notebook this is written : LinkConnect::"linkc": "\!\(\[LeftSkeleton] 1 \[RightSkeleton]\) is dead; \ attempt to connect failed." I checked, the file is there : (path is correct, too) -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 370496 Jul 9 19:14 JPEG.exe* and it is a linux executable (despite the exe ;-) : JPEG.exe: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped But even a ./JPEG.exe in bash yields bash: ./JPEG.exe: No such file or directory (although command completion via Tab in the shell works). I tried renaming the file, copying it to other directories, using other shells, always the same. After that I rebooted under 3 different kernels (2.4.7ac3, 2.4.6ac5, Suse-2.4.4-64GB). Then I reinstalled Mathematica in a different directory, but nothing helps. Does anyone know what's behind this? (It's probably just a weird little switch that needs to be changed, but I can't think of any) thanks for your help Roland -- ICQ UIN 49339118 Linux Counter #88774 GPG-Key 1024D/C969F3F2 2001-02-28 Roland Pabel <roland at pabel.net> fingerprint = C8A7 BF6A 12FE CE55 724D 667B 4060 B228 C969 F3F2
