I've verified that the first case holds; I'm not safe anyway. But here is
something I can do: The Output style's default setting of the cell option
Generated is True. If I change it for a particular cell to false, then that
cell is safe from deletion, whether or not it follows and is grouped with
an input cell. So there is a way to be safe. But that still leaves the
original issue;)
