I use 4.1.5 on Mac OS X. I do not have the problem that you describe.
You appear to be getting a triple-click when you double-click; perhaps
contact bounce in your mouse. Are you having similar problems in other apps
such as MS Word?
I suggest that you change your double-click speed setting (Apple/System
Preferences.../Mouse/Double-Click Speed) to see if that helps. Move the
setting towards Fast.
