You can use <<RealTime3D` and <<Default3D` to switch on (and off) interactive 3D rotation. You control the rotation using the left hand mouse button, and if the CTRL key is simultaneously pressed you can zoom in and out. The only downside that I have noticed is that you lose some details such as line colour and width, but surfaces appear to render correctly. A more complete solution is to use the OpenGL viewer (search for MathGL3d on http://www.mathsource.com/). This is a really good free add-on to Mathematica.
