plot rendering problem under linux

I am using mathematica 5.0 under mandrake linux 10,
and when I do plotting, some time it will freeze there, on the title bar 
it shows "rendering...". I had this problem with linux, but never met it 
on windows or mac os x.

Do anybody know how to solve this problem?
