Toshi, The same thing happened to me recently, and I solved it by deleting the cache data from the file. Here's how: Open the file with a text editor. Then delete the CacheID line that appears near the top. Then scroll down to where the cached data begins (near the end) and delete everything starting there. Save the file and try to open it with Mathematica.
