My only available help is the help browser on the computer system
here (at Philips Research lab) and it does not answer questions
like "why is Plot ignoring substitutions?"

and it turns out to be discussed by Fred Simons at 6 jan 2004. Is there
another way to search for this information?

A searchable mathematica FAQ? In ASCII format, for instance?
