Sound recording under 4.1

Hi All,
	I'm trying to get V4.1 (running on Mac G4) to record a sound, then 
read it in as sampled data.  Basic stuff, done by the documentation:
Input > Record Sound...
[Save recorded sound]
Cell > Convert To > InputForm

When I do this step, the Sound Cell is replaced with an error (*Ignored 
unknown sound type*)

Anyone have a solution to this
