Here is an example based on a 3D plot in the Graphics`ParametricPlot3D` documentation: <<Graphics`ParametricPlot3D` ParametricPlot3D[{Cos[u] Cos[v],Sin[u] Cos[v],Sin[v],EdgeForm[]},{u,0,2Pi,Pi/20},{v,-Pi/2,Pi/2,Pi/20}, LightSources->{{{1,0,1},RGBColor[1,0,0]}}]; Comments: 1. The 4th coordinate is represented in plots by using graphics properties (there are no spatial dimensions left to use!). In this case EdgeForm[] is used to suppress the mesh lines. 2. The option LightSources is used to control the placement of the light sources. Here LightSources->{{{1,0,1},RGBColor[1,0,0]}} is used to create a single red light source that illuminates the part of the plot that is visible.
