Solution 1 : use entities : \[EAcute], \[CapitalAHat], etc. from the keyboard or (better) from a palette ; Solution 2 : some characters can be entered using aliases, for instance 'ê' can be entered '(escape)e^(escape)' A better Linux FrontEnd is expected some day.
