I just remembered what they are: Part of the Mathematica Link for Excel add-on. I do wish that authors of all windows .exe files would embed identification as to Company, File Version, Interla Name, etc. author so that they are visible on the Version tab of the file's Properties in Windows. (These two .exe's hav no such identification.) (That's one of several annoyances due to thoughtlessness on the part of software publishers.)
