depending on the details, curve fitting can be cast as an optimization 
model. Then you can set bounds and other functional relations regarding the 
parameters of the fitted model structure (more flexibly than when using the 
built-in, local search-based fitting functions). I assume that e.g. 
NMInimize or our MathOptimizer/Pro packages could suit your purposes. Let 
me know if you are interested in some tests done using MathOptimizer/Pro.
