Problem with Mathematica 5.2 on G5 Macintosh Systems

They did it again..... after upgrading OSX to 10.4.7 on G5 PPC, Mathematica 5.2
doesn't run any more,
and the Mathkernal quits with segmentation fault. After following the
instructions given in a thread here:

to remove the 64 bit support, it does work again.
(I cannot directly reply to this thread because it was locked,
obviously inappropriately so)
