It looks like your snippet shows TrueType or a similar pixel shading scheme on the lower example and not on the upper example. I think TrueType is a rendering method for characters, not a font, and not considered a part or feature of a font. Not sure what part of your system brings TryeType into the picture - it might be applied as an option in your operating system, for example. Which snippet do you prefer? I think TrueType and similar schemes look much jaggier than the old binary method they replace, and find the upper snippet clear and the lower one a mess, but most people think TrueType looks less jaggy, which is the whole point of its existence.
