Dear Daniel,

on my machine (1.8MHz, 512RAM, Mathematica 6.0.2) this last code
produces some fine deadlock, or whatisit.
After evaluating the code in a fresh kernel, title said "Running..."
but nothing has changed, and now it's 10 minutes past, and it's still
running
Even if it works fine (i.e. produces the expected output), it is too
slow on my machine.
Could it be that I've missed some important point here?
