According to MathWorld, "in the general literature, they [matrices] are
more commonly delimited using parentheses". Anyway, from time to time I am
asked about how to use matrices with square brackets in Mathematica. It
happened again some days ago. It is an embarassing situation. As always, I
sent a solution using $PreRead, $PrePrint and box manipulation. But due to
its complexity and unnaturalness for a beginner (or even to a "power
user"), I now think that we should have a better, easier and more robust
way to do this (maybe as an option to MatrixForm).
