Getting a new password will work because you can keep both passwords in your password file at the same time, and Mathematica will always choose the one that works. And the difference between the two was not intentional on our part. It was an unexpected issue which arose with the release of Snow Leopard. Future versions of Mathematica won't have this problem, and we may end up patching the present release (if we do, I'll make sure an announcement is made to this forum). In the mean time, you should contact Wolfram Research Technical Support. Sincerely, John Fultz jfultz at wolfram.com User Interface Group Wolfram Research, Inc.
