Also wanted here.  Heiki Ruskeepaa's "Mathematica Book" has 
several sections on this topic in Chapter 3 but I believe it's still 
at v6;  and although his explanations are always helpful and his 
book well worth having, I still find his discussion of this topic not 
fully adequate for me.
