I can verify that NonlinearModelFit does NOT crash on the following two
systems:

Fedora 13
Linux kernel: 2.6.33.6-147.2.4.fc13.x86_64
Core2 Quad processor
Mathematica 7.0.1

Ubuntu 10.04
Linux kernel 2.6.32-24-generic (32-bit)
Pentium Dual Core processor
Mathematica 7.0.1
