Can you clarify what kind of graphics have you tried this with?

There are two basic options for copying (select the graphic, then see Edit 
-> Copy As...):

 * Copying as a bitmap, which will look *exactly* the same as in Mathematica, but is low-resolution by default, which is likely to show when the Word document is printed (semi-workaround is to increase the magnification level from the status bar setting before copying)

 * Copying as a Metafile.  This will try to preserve vector graphics when possible, and will look good in print.  I can't find any problem in a quick test, but I can easily imagine that with more complex graphics, some parts may not be completely faithful to the original (as you say happens with your graphics).  I'd just like to point out that the lack of antialiasing (if this is what your are complaining about) in Word should not be a big deal: the vector graphics are still there, and they will look beautiful when you print them or export to PDF.
