I get values similar to yours In[6]:= {(m2 - m1)*2^-20., ByteCount[img3d]*2^-20.} Out[6]= {512.604, 512.} In[8]:= MemoryInUse[]*2^-20. Out[8]= 534.442 My system monitor says that Mathematica uses around 840MB, so thats also not quite accurate. I'm running Mathematica under Ubuntu 10.10/64-bit. Best regards, Sebastian
