This is "half" of an answer: in the Manipulate expression, you include
an option of the form

   AppearancElements -> {"elem1", "elem2", ...}

where the target list does _not_ include "Autorun".

But what you do include in the list to obtain the other, usual,
controls, is left unsaid by the documentation page
ref/AppearanceElements, which gives only All or None as possibilities in
its examples.

Further, on page ref/Manipulate, section Options, subsection
AppearanceElements, it just gives one examplesindicating some other
possibilities of what to include: "HideControlsButton",
"SnapshotButton", "ResetButton"

Such lacunae in documentation is not helpful!
