I have this problem with one particular notebook (actually a .m file,
but I edit it in Mathematica) which is 7600 lines long!
You can, of course, do amazing custom things if you are prepared to
program the system a bit. I extend my Mathematica menu (see the
installation file MenuSetup.tr) with extra items - accessible via the
alt key.
Using this scheme, I can add bookmarks of the form (*\[Lightbulb].....*)
and quickly return to these locations.
BTW, do backup your MenuSetup.tr file before you try modifying it,
because if you end up with a syntax error in it, Mathematica will simply
not start!
