greetings all:

i have an HDF file with a 25^3 dataset in it.

i read it in using MathHDF (no problem).

i use Fit to approximate the dataset with a function F[x,y,z].

if i use a small number of 'fit' polynomials {1,x,y,xy},

then F[x,y,z] is computed, albeit slowly using much memory.

i need to increase the number of 'fit' polys.

when i do, the kernel keeps begging for more memory.

after giving the kernel 35Meg, without success, i thought it was

time to ask for some help.

can anyone offer some insight into decreasing the memory usage?

after i get the poly, i'll write it out to a file, so i only have to
do this once.

sincerely,
m. r.
