I have encoutered trouble while running MMA on a new Power Mac ( 9500/120; System 7.5.2); that is, the Mathematica Kernel suddenly disappears without any message. This does not happen for SUN and HP work stations for the same program. This trouble is not always reproducible, it is hard to find out what is wrong.
