Not sure what you're asking here. Installation of type 1 fonts has nothing to do with Mathematica. You put them in your Library:Fonts folder. A shot in the dark: I have a feeling your difficulty might be related to the FontType option. Open the Option Inspector, show option values for Global, and look under Formatting Options > Font Options > PrivateFontOptions.
