I have observed something that seems to be a change in the behavior of the Help Browser in Version 4.2.1 from Version 4.1.0. It seems to be a new bug. What happens is that when the Hide Categories/Show Categories button is used, Mathematica sometimes loses its location in the Help Browser and drops the information in the 4th panel of the browser. For example, bring up 4.2.1 and use Help\Add-Ons\Extras\Programming in Mathematica\Map Constructors\rotation Four panels of the Help Browser are shown and the location is highlighted in each panel. Now use Hide Categories and then Show Categories. Instead of returning to the initial state, now only two levels are highlighted, and all the labels in the 4th panel is missing. This is certainly inconvenient. With Built-in Functions the 4th panel is not used, but Mathematica does drop the highlighting of the 3rd panel. That is not so inconvenient because no information is lost from the Browser panels. In Version 4.1.0 this behavior did not (and does not) happen and Mathematica always returned to its initial state. Wolfram did not seem able to be able to reproduce the problem. Do other people see this behavior? This occurs for me in a fresh session and even after rebuilding the Help Index.
