Hi Jeff,

you may interupt the calculation either by the menu or Alt+comma. Up 

comes a window where you may enter a subsesion and look at your 

variables. To contine you say: Return[]

You may also abort the calculation, either by Alt+period or the menu (or 

even kill the kernel using the menu)
