Something like the following maybe..
tester = {{1, 3, 1}, {3, 1, 0}, {4, 2, 1}, {5, 6, 2}}
numberSelected = 1;
col = 3;
Part[tester, Flatten[Position[tester[[All, col]], numberSelected]]]
