Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)
8301 Greensboro Drive
McLean VA
Southern Corner of Westpark Drive and Greensboro Drive
Agenda

1. Prepared Talks

"On the translation of a book written in LaTeX into a Mathematica notebook",
by Dave Vasholz

ABSTRACT. In this talk I start with a book written by a colleague and
display it as a pdf file. I then examine the underlying LaTeX file and show
how one might perform a translation into a Mathematica notebook. One of the
by-products of this effort is an interesting little program that can map
sequences of integers into Mathematica notebooks.

"Using Mathematica in the Curation of String Lists", by Dan Martinez

ABSTRACT. In this presentation, Dan will illustrate how Mathematica's
string search faculties can be used to isolate variants of strings in lists
for the purpose of making them uniform. The technique is ideal for
consolidating names of individuals that contain spelling errors, the use of
nicknames or the use of initialisms.

2. Mathematica Gems and Discoveries

- Sharing of Mathematica programming oddities
- Applications of Mathematica to some areas of science
- Something recently read and worth sharing

3. Mathematica Questions, Possible Approaches and Discussion

4. New Business
