One of the main motivating factors in our decision to buy some 
NeXT computers in our department was the combined price/performance
factor considering that Mathematica was bundled (and hence upgrades, etc 
would be forthcoming).  Without the bundling and considering that
 we have many SUNS in our department, we would have gone to SUNS (which 
already have Mathematica) and used the network.  I would suggest that
 the relevant people tell this to Jobs.  
  We are a University account, so take this for what it's worth.
