Mathematica v3.0 is a full 32bit app; and the current specifications you mention for the Dell should work. Dell in general has good tech. support compared to most brands, they'll tell you before hand if there's any problems. Your main concern when purchasing a laptop is the video interfaces of the software and speaking from prior experience mathematica should work well on a laptop with vga/svga capabillities. A Dell should meet the requirements more than enough.
