ListPlot colors and timing

Two questions: 

1)  I can color a listplot but when I combine two differently colored 
listplots with Show[] they both become the same color.  How can I avoid this?

2)  In MMA 2.2.3 I was able to set the Preferences to display a small 
window with the timing for each operation.  How does one do this in MMA 3.0?
