Thanks -- problem solved.

For what it's worth, it will not be obvious to the casual user that this
is a "missing AFM" problem, despite the error message; I strongly
encourage you to (also) describe it as a "Why don't input cells print
in boldface?" problem. Even I, who should have known better, had found
this page in Technical Support without realizing it was the solution to
my problem.

The second of these should surely be
	$TopDirectory/SystemFiles/Fonts/AFM ??
