Greg, I have the same problem with Mathematica 3.0.1 on my Windows 95 system. I also found that Wolfram support couldn't help. Curiously, I have a Matrox Mystique video card, so it looks like it is not a problem with your particular card. When I discovered the problem on my Cyrix-based system, I returned it to the vendor (Cybermax Computers) to get a Pentium, since Wolfram says they officially support only Pentium-based systems. The problem did not go away or abate with this change. My way of "fixing" the problem is to close the file and immediately reopen it. This is a good workaround for me since the problem only crops up less than once a day on average and then, only with relatively large notebooks. It also seems that the choice of screen resolution has something to do with it, i.e., I had more success with 32-bit color than with 24 or 16. By the way, I have no problems with my Windows NT system with a Matrox Millenium card. I think it is a problem with the Windows 95 system and certain video cards and sync rates, but I haven't time or resources to prove it.
