David:

I agree with your answer, but new readers of the Mathematica 5 Book
may be misled by Appendix A.3.7 Iterators, which lists {imax} as
acceptable iterator notation "... used in such functions as Sum,
Table, Do and Range".

I think Wolfram should revise this.
