[If you are getting spam email, these are NOT coming from new newsgroup or mailing list. Some spammers go through newsgroups looking for email addresses and then send spam to those addresses. The only way to avoid this is by never having your real email address in a post or have a very good spam filter. But more likely is that there are users who have viruses/worms on their Windows machines along with posts they have saved from the mailing list or newsgroup. If your address is among these, you will get spam from someone who reads the group and they may not know about it. There is nothing I can do but encourage people to make sure their PCs are not infected and that everyone use a good spam filter. If your posts on the Google groups have some spam connected with them and you want this corrected, you willl have to work with Google to get these removed - moderator] Does that mean that every individual post has to be identified to Google? I'm not getting them here at work but I am getting 2 to 4 each day from different sources.....and needless to say it's quite frustrating.... Some of you will notice weird posts in the newsgroup that have nothing to do with Mathematica. I contacted the Google support people and the have responded with the message below. If you want to bother with removing any post that are connected with your posts, contact groups-support at google.com. Steve Christensen Moderator Thank you for your note. We apologize for our delay in responding to your email. The problem you are describing sounds like part of an attack that was made on several groups during the last two weeks of December. The poster used a news service that allowed (or was vulnerable to) altering the headers of his posts. He faked email addresses, message IDs, and approval headers for moderated groups. We can remove the forged posts from our archives if your members who actually own those email addresses request it. Regards, The Google Team
