With Windows Server 2003, if you go to a command prompt and type "ver", you
will see something along the lines of:

Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790]

However within Mathematica, {$System} nets you:

{Microsoft Windows}

Mathematica sees Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, and Windows
XP Home all in pretty much the same light, that is as a Microsoft product.
