Does anyone like the new behavior of Show with respect to PlotRange? It
uses the PlotRange settings from the first graphic listed, which so far
is never what I want. I find that I must now always set
PlotRange->Automatic when combining graphics with Show, which is quite a
nuisance.

Someone from WRI posted here that the reason for this change in Show is
that with some of the new graphics options (Filling and so forth, I
guess) it wouldn't make sense to use PlotRange->Automatic. I have yet to
run into a single instance in my daily use of Mathematica in which I
have wanted to set the PlotRange according to the first plot. I can
understand that someone might want this sometimes, but to me, probably
95% of the time I want PlotRange->Automatic (or at times
PlotRange->All). The other ~5%, I set a PlotRange explicitly.

I would really like Show to have a default PlotRange->Automatic, and
some *other* option for PlotRange that one could set in cases where you
*do* want to use the PlotRange from the first plot.

[And yes, I do know how to use SetOptions and have considered setting
Show to have a default PlotRange->Automatic in the init.m file on the
computers in our own classrooms, but this would cause a lot of confusion
for students, who use Mathematica on university owned computers beyond
my control all over campus, as well as on their own laptops.]
