The problem occurs exclusively on systems running 64-bit versions of Windows XP, 2003, or Vista which have never had version 6 installed. It does not occur, for example, under 32-bit versions of Windows running on 64-bit CPU's, which tends to be a much more common configuration being sold from the big names like Dell and HP. The Windows Mathematica Player download has been updated to resolve this problem, incidentally. The FAQ remains in place for those who already installed the earlier version. The only change to the new Windows Mathematica Player is to effectively apply the step outlined in the FAQ, so there is no reason to download it again if you've successfully followed the FAQ. As a reminder, again, the FAQ is... http://support.wolfram.com/player/systems/windows/52andplayerincompatibility.html Sincerely, John Fultz jfultz at wolfram.com User Interface Group Wolfram Research, Inc.
