On Win XP 32-bit (!!)(1.5 GB RAM) with Mathematica v5.0 it seems to be
1.9202246726923565854204690606`15.954589770191005*^646456887
==> 2 147 483 295 b (~2^31) ==> 268 435 412 B (~2^28)
