I don't see a need to avoid usage of postfix or prefix notation
when replying for several reasons. First, there are usually
enough replies with different notation and approaches, at least
one seems likely to be clear to a newcomer. Additionally,
posters often add words of explanation to make it clear what is
being done. Finally, how is a newcomer to learn about these
notations if they aren't used?

Ultimately, effective communication is a two way process. If
someone doesn't understand a response to their question they
should indicate that with a follow up post. Someone is sure to
clarify the response.
