So I said no, I made sure no version in the list shown is checked. But after installing 8.0.1 was completed, I find that it removed 8.0. oh well. And the bug where Mathematica saves the current opened notebook in a folder which is not the same folder the notebook is opened from is still there not fixed. If I open notebook A from folder A/, then open notebook B from folder B/, then if want to save notebook B (File->Save), Mathematica will automatically put it in folder A/ instead of folder B/. I do not understand how could I be the only person who sees this problem :) Here is my original post on this. http://groups.google.com/group/comp.soft-sys.math.mathematica/browse_thread/thread/b594974c453c4f8e Another thing I noticed, when asking for $version number, it still displays 8.0, but with 8.0.1 release date: ------------------------- In[5]:= $Version Out[5]= 8.0 for Microsoft Windows (64-bit) (February 23, 2011) ----------------------------- But when I do 'About Mathematica' it says "Version Number : 8.0.1.0" Ok, now as far as differences, I run my function which lists the system functions and symbols, this is what I get V 8.0 ------ Names["System`*"] gives 4141 Functions in System context gives 2467 V 8.0.1.0 ---------- Names["System`*"] gives 4129 Functions in System context gives 2468 I have updated my Mathematica page with the list of the functions and symbols for V 8.0.1, there is an HTML and PDF files there if someone wants to look at the actual listing. Not all of the addon packages are included in the listing. http://12000.org/my_notes/compare_mathematica/index.htm --Nasser
