Timing in Version 3.0 - bug?

I have just installed 3.0 on an SGI Inidigo2 running IRIX 5.3 (see
attachment for details) and have converted some 2.2 notebooks. One of
them seems to be giving spurious timing results; unfortunately, this is
in a lengthy calculation where accurate timing is very useful
information. Instead of reporting the time used, the elapsed time is
reported as "Null Seconds" in over half of the instances in which
"Timing[expr]" is invoked; in the remainder, it functions normally,
which is even more irritating! This is happening inside a large loop
where perfomrs a series of numerical integrations, some of which may
take several hours. Any ideas?
