MathLink for Excel and Mathematica under Windows works only for
MathLink compatible versions of Mathematica 2.2 (2.2.x, x>=2)
and Excel version 5.0.

You cannot use Excel 7.0 or Excel 97 because they don't understand
the macros that were used for the MathLink software.

You cannot use Mathematica 3.0 because the version 3.0 MathLink
protocol does not have support for links to 16-bit apps.
