Re: Mathematica and MacOSX 10.9 Mavericks

Indeed, after first opening Mathematica 9.0.1 after I upgraded from OS X 10.8.5 to 10.9, Mathematica prompted that it needed a Java 6 run-time and asked if it could install it. I let it do so.

But I had previously installed Oracle's Java 7 run-time and browser plug-in, included in the Java SDK, most recently version 1.7.0_45. And that's still there:

 - System Preferences > Java > Java shows =911.7.0_45' as the current User and System run-time.

 - in Terminal, command =91which java=92 gives /usr/bin/java and then =93java -version=94 gives =91Java version =931.7.0_45=94=92.

I know that OS X does not allow two different versions of the Java run-time to coexist, so I just don't understand where that Mathematica prompt put the Java 6 it seemed to need. Or whether, perhaps, it was actually satisfied to use the already installed Java 7.
